With this FREE ironing board cover sewing pattern, you can sew yourself a new ironing board cover. It includes two sizes:

  • Small: L 73 x W 32 cm This pattern variation has been designed based on the popular IKEA JÄLL compact ironing board but it will fit any compact ironing board with similar dimensions.
  • Large: L 120 x W 38 cm This pattern variation has been designed based on the IKEA DÄNKA full-size ironing board but will fit any full-size ironing board with similar dimensions.

Best-suited fabrics: cotton (which is heat resistant and breathable). Look for a tightly woven durable cotton fabric with a smooth surface such as quilting cotton or cretonne.

Difficulty Level: Absolute Beginner | This project is perfect for beginner sewists with some basic experience.

It revolves around one technique, which is sewing bias binding to form a tunnel for a drawstring. It's an excellent project to practice this technique while not worrying about perfection (because the bias binding is fully hidden!).
