These ankle-length palazzo pants are cinched at the waist for a flattering silhouette, while an exaggerated wide-leg cut creates dramatic movement with every step. This style has the following features:

  • Ankle-length
  • Fits snugly at the waist and flares out into a dramatic wide-leg
  • Adjustable fit thanks to an elasticated back
  • Twisted side seam
  • Sultry side-slit either at thigh or calf-length
  • Available in 3 views and 2 lengths

Description

With this PDF Sewing Pattern and its comprehensive instructions, you can sew yourself 3 variations of these sultry palazzo pants including a cute pair of skorts!

About the Casablanca Pants

You will be able to sew 3 variations of this pattern: View A (the original Casablanca Pants) was designed with a flounce, which gives additional length and fluidity. View B makes for a much quicker and fabric-saving sew, as it can be assembled without the flounce. View C is the short version: it has the fullness of a skirt, but the comfort and coverage of shorts.

The Casablanca Palazzo Pants can be styled in several ways: you can pair them with a tank or a crop-top to highlight the volume of the wide leg silhouette, or wear them with a lightweight tucked-in blouse for a polished look. Of course, they are also perfect for a beachy vibe, paired with a bralette or bikini top.

Sizing Chart

This pattern is available in 9 sizes – check out the product pictures for the Sizing Chart.

This garment was designed and then graded based on size B, with a height of 172cm (5’6″)

Also make sure to check out my Sizing Guide for some additional tips on how to chose the right size and ensure the best garment fit for your project.

Fabric & Material Requirements

The Casablanca Palazzo Pants pattern was conceived for non-stretch fabric.

Main fabric options include:

  • Lightweight fabrics that have good draping (lightweight cotton such as lawn, batiste, rayon/viscose, crepe or satin)
  • Polyester: while it may raise eyebrows to go “synthetic”, this is my hands-down favorite fabric option for this skirt because it’s extremely lightweight, flowy and doesn’t crease
  • Check out the product pictures to review required yardage!
Other required material:
  • 1.25-1.85m of elastic (1cm width)
  • Fusible interfacing for the waistband (70cm x 10cm / 14″ x 4″)
Difficulty Level

Sewing difficulty Level: Intermediate

With this pattern, you will learn to master the following techniques:

  • applying fusible interfacing

  • gathering fabric

  • sewing a no-seam waistband
  • placing elastic in the waistband to create a smocked effect

  • sewing a rolled hem (ideally on a serger, but can be done on a regular machine)

Each step is explained in depth!

This is my second pattern from Anais after having tested the Oaxaca blouse. I adjusted the crotch length thanks to the instructions (first time doing this). They're *chef's kiss* 👨‍🍳💋

These pants took longer than expected to make and I really struggled with the flounce because there was a lot to ease it, but the end result is stunning. Will do a skort version next
