About the Atlanta Fitted Top
Atlanta is the perfect all-rounder — it will become your new go-to sewing pattern for a classic top that works for any occasion. Whether you’re in the mood for a sporty cropped top, a classic layering piece, or a polished turtleneck, this pattern has you covered.
With up to 12 possible variations to choose from (and endless fabric possibilities!), this truly versatile pattern will help you sew whatever you’re in the mood for!
The Atlanta Top was designed as a close-fitting garment. But no worries: thanks to the stretch fabric, it will still be comfortable to wear.
This pattern can be made using your regular sewing machine but will also be perfect if you have an overlocker!


Sizing
This pattern is available in 13 sizes up to Waist Circumference 126cm (49″) and Hip Circumference 147cm (57″)

Use your closest Bust measurement to determine the base size. You can always adjust the fit by grading between sizes if your measurements span across one or more sizes on the chart. This will, of course, be explained in detail in the sewing step-by-step!
This garment was designed and then graded based on a size D, with a height of 172cm (5’6″) and B/C Cup.
Difficulty Level
With this pattern, and thanks to the in-depth explanations in the instructions booklet, you will learn to master the following techniques:
- working with stretch fabric
- applying self bias binding from knit fabric
- sewing a mock neck collar
- hemming knits using a zig-zag stitch or twin needle
I consider this project to suitable for Confident Beginners eager to learn how to work with stretch fabric. While those with a coverlock or coverstitch machine will find it especially smooth to navigate, beginners can easily sew this up it using a regular sewing machine with a zigzag stitch or twin needle.
Materials Required
Suitable Fabrics
This sewing pattern was conceived for stretch fabric with 40-50% stretch and full recovery.
Best suited fabric options include: jersey knits (cotton, bamboo or viscose), ribbed knits or ponte di roma (if you prefer something thicker) or athletic jersey for a sporty look.
You can use this Stretch Percentage Gauge to help determine whether your fabric is right for this project.
- Fabric Requirement: Between 0.66m - 1.55m of stretch knit fabric (40-50% stretch) — check out the pictures for full yardage!
- Notions: none required!
- Sewing tools: Scissors, a stretch needle, a twin-needle (optional), matching thread, pins, trick marker or chalk. Overlocker is completely optional.
- Seam Allowances: Included (0.7cm at seams and 1.5cm at hems)
